2008 was supposed to be our year. Focus had come home, Boo-da’s legal stuff was becoming manageable, Toga was settling into his new lifestyle, and Chosen was ready as usual. The promoters and street teams were in place across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, the budget was good enough to make it happen. With all the drama we had been thru in the 5 years prior, scrambling as an independent, grinding the mixtapes, we had paid our dues. Everything was in place for an early fall release, and then on August , Boo-da and his brother Davin are killed in a car accident. We scrapped the single, which is a big deal since we paid for a feature from SKILLZ.
Reflecting on Boo-da and his style made us realize that we had lost ourselves in a scramble of trying to make music for the masses as opposed to being true to ourselves and just making good music. FRONTLINE became to save Hip-hop music. They bring the myth of the perfect artists, one that can satisfy the hearts of all sects of rap fans, to reality. Their ability to take artist with different styles and make cohesive records is what makes them unique to other groups in the rap genre. This spring FRONTLINE will be releasing the first of each artist’s own mixtape, starting with FOCUS’s Hardtimez Vol. 1 – Tearz of a Hustla.
